En Búsqueda Del Contrafáctico Perdido: Un Análisis De La (Des)Liberalización Argentina Mediante Controles Sintéticos

Abstract

¿Se puede establecer una conexión causal entre libertades individuales y el crecimiento económico? Este trabajo se centra en emplear un método estadístico capaz de brindar evidencia cuasiexperimental para evaluar el impacto sobre el crecimiento de la disminución de las libertades económicas en Argentina durante el periodo 2000 - 2015. El nivel de libertad económica es medido utilizando un índice ampliamente difundido en la literatura relacionada. Al comparar el crecimiento del PBI per cápita argentino con un control sintético estimado a partir de naciones vecinas con mayor libertad económica, no se encontraron diferencias estadísticamente significativas, en general. Sin embargo, al profundizar el análisis, sumando como dimensión a la profundidad de la desliberalización, se identifica una tendencia hacia la significancia, sugiriendo que niveles extremos de pérdida de libertad económica podrían impactar negativamente el crecimiento. Esto se observa, particularmente, para el período 2011 - 2015.
