New Equipments, same old measures? La composición del capital en la Contabilidad del Desarrollo

Abstract

En las ´ultimas d´ecadas, el avance de tecnolog´ıas inform´aticas a nivel digital, satelital y computacional dio pasos agigantados, cambiando para siempre todas las actividades econ´omicas; al mismo tiempo la mejoras en la medici´on del capital intangible en cuentas nacionales permitieron un an´alisis m´as detallado de su evoluci´on e impacto en la econom´ıa. Este trabajo se propone, utilizando evidencia emp´ırica, explicar cu´anto de la actual diferencia en los ingresos per c´apita entre pa´ıses puede explicarse por diferencias en la composici´on del capital, distinguiendo entre tangibles (tecnol´ogico/notecnol´ogico) e intangibles. Sorteo estos desaf´ıos utilizando la metodolog´ıa de Contabilidad del Desarrollo junto con innovaciones en el campo de Fuentes del Crecimiento al proponer una forma funcional que capte heterogeneidades en el factor capital. Obtenemos un mejora del poder explicativo de los factores para explicar las diferencias del producto entre pa´ıses al desagregar y al incluir capitales intangibles por fuera de los limites del Sistema de Cuentas Nacionales
