Mercado Laboral y Pobreza en Argentina

Abstract

El trabajo indaga el vínculo entre el mercado laboral y la pobreza en Argentina. Para cuantificar la influencia de diferentes variables del mercado laboral sobre la tasa de pobreza se utilizan distintos métodos de estimaciones de datos de panel. Adicionalmente, para captar efectos no lineales o umbrales se siguió la metodología propuesta por Hansen para estimar un modelo de datos de panel con umbrales, no dinámico y de efectos fijos (Threshold Models). Los resultados muestran que mejoras en el ingreso de la actividad principal, en la distribución del ingreso, la tasa de desempleo, la participación de personas con altos niveles de educación en el mercado laboral, contribuyen a reducir la tasa de pobreza de una provincia. Un resultado muy relevante es que efectos no lineales del ingreso, la tasa de informalidad y el desempleo sobre el nivel de pobreza dependen del grado de desigualdad de una jurisdicción.
