O impacto das importações chinesas sobre a produtividade setorial no Brasil

Abstract

O objetivo deste artigo é estimar os impactos das importações da China sobre a produtividade setorial no Brasil. Diversos trabalhos mostram que a produtividade no país é baixa e está crescendo ainda mais lentamente nos últimos anos. A literatura internacional, com foco principalmente na análise de países desenvolvidos, mostra os efeitos positivos da abertura comercial sobre a produtividade. Utilizando dados setoriais da indústria e de comércio internacional, encontramos resultados diferentes para o Brasil e em linha com outros estudos de países em desenvolvimento. Um aumento de dez pontos percentuais na participação das importações chinesas em relação às importações totais gera uma queda de 5,7% na produtividade total dos fatores setorial em cinco anos.
