Indian Industrial Policy: From Theoretical to Practical Approaches

This research aims to identify the features of the transformation of India’s industrial policy from 1947 to the present in the context of the digitalization of the world economy and the country’s desire to become an international industrial center. The research methodology is based on traditional methods of economic analysis, such as deduction and induction, comparison, and retrospective analysis. The authors revealed that the industrialization and transformation of India’s industrial policy to turn the country into an international industrial hub in the context of the digitalization of the world economy remains one of the main goals of Indian economic policy. The authors demonstrated that India’s initial industrial policy and industrialization were driven by planned efforts and the urgent need to equip the economy with production means and technologies. Over time, as the country’s economic development model transformed, industrial policy became increasingly linked to investment strategies, liberalization processes, and integration into the global economy.
