Abstract

This research aims to identify the main trends and prospects for the development of Russia and China as BRICS members in the field of industrial equipment manufacturing. During the research, the authors applied general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, comparison, generalization, and statistical and descriptive methods. Examples of Russian–Chinese projects in industrial equipment manufacturing are rare, with most projects currently in the preparatory phase following the signing of relevant agreements or discussing future possibilities between the parties. Factors influencing the further development of bilateral industrial cooperation include a sufficiently established institutional framework, existing experience in cooperation in various industrial sectors (e.g., military industry, energy, and automotive manufacturing), and geographical prerequisites for bilateral interaction. The key challenges hindering more active Russian–Chinese cooperation in industrial equipment manufacturing are insufficient investments, the threat of secondary sanctions against China, administrative barriers, and logistical problems. The authors identified two key areas for developing cooperation between China and Russia in industrial equipment manufacturing: the development of industrial cooperation projects within Russia’s special economic zones and the strengthening of industrial cooperation within the framework of cross-border cooperation in the Far Eastern Federal District of the Russian Federation.
