Abstract

The Paris Agreement adopted in December 2015 includes climate finance as a key element of the coordinated action against climate change at global level. This chapter deals with the role of transboundary climate finance in the international negotiations on climate change. After discussing the magnitude of the challenge, and synthesizing the insights from the literature on international environmental agreements, we describe the complexity of the current architecture and identify the main opportunities and challenges of the post-Paris regime…
