Abstract

No matter how “fueled up” or “fit” the explorer is for the journey ahead, the odds of success still remain stacked against the exploration. It is not a coincidence that those that reach their destination are celebrated and go down in history. Before Roald Amundsen led the first expedition to reach the South Pole, many expeditions tried and failed to do so (which ironically helped Amundsen succeed). The success of the Apollo 11 landing did not guarantee that those that followed them were going to be successful as well. The failure rate is tremendously high, and that is in good times…
