Abstract

It has been a pleasure to re-read some of Alan Deardorff's papers on trade and growth, and to read others for the first time. These papers are typical of Alan's work; they artfully tease new insights on important issues from simple, familiar models.It is fitting to begin my review with “A Geometry of Growth and Trade.” Alan loves diagrams, and given his skill in developing them, it is easy to see why. His diagrammatic analyses are as incisive as any algebraic treatment and more pleasing to the eye…
