Abstract

Over the last decade, the Indian economy has transitioned from an agrarian economy to a predominantly services-based economy with IT-ITES being a major component of the services sector. The IT-ITES sector's share of the GDP continues to grow steadily reaching 4.8% in 2005–2006 (Nasscom Strategic Review, 2006). The survey indicates that the Indian businesses are changing, requiring more effective solutions to deliver better value to the customers and maintain their position in a fiercely competitive scenario. Indian businesses during 2005–2006 were definitely at an inflection point in terms of deployment of information and communication technologies. Technology is increasingly being linked with organization strategy to improve performance of firms.
