Abstract

This paper presents global KM survey research that investigates the development and implementation of KM strategies in relation to the governance of those strategies. It discusses the nature of the strategic management of knowledge, the nature of the tasks and roles of management. We look at the context of information politics, and differentiate between management and governance. It is found that the roles and responsibilities of those with authority over KM are more important than the politics of the organization in which the knowledge is being managed.
