Abstract

The emergence of information and communication technologies (ICTs) has changed the life style of consumers. However, literature on their influences on businesses is limited. In this paper, we explore the impacts of ICTs on business practices and resulting business performances. Customer relationship management, supply Chain Management, business process outsourcing and globalization are considered as business practices. Business performances include overall business performances and functional area costs. The data sets are collected as a part of The Business and Information Technologies (BIT) project. The results from path analysis models are compared using Korea and US data sets. In both countries, ICTs have a direct impact on overall business performance. However, Korea shows stronger indirect impacts on business performances through selected business practices.
