Abstract

It is the differences among us that make the world colourful and interesting. I enjoy learning about how different places and communities developed different architecture or foods or political systems over time, and soaking in different experiences. This could be walking through the Akamon (Red Gate) to enter Tokyo University, trying durians in Pahang, or visiting Shakespeare’s home near Warwick University and learning about the words he coined. Most of all, I like meeting people who come from different backgrounds, hearing their stories, and making friends. Eventually, it is that sense of friendship that no longer makes a place feel different or “other”, but makes you feel like you could belong too…
