Abstract

Remittance has become an essential source of foreign income and remarkably influences the current accounts and economies of many nations. However, the relationship between remittance, financial development index, and national economic growth is still controversial. According to the database from 28 countries in the Asia-Pacific region from 1995 to 2018, the effects of remittance and financial development on economic growth are evaluated using empirical methods in this study. The results show that remittance hurts the economy, which can be seen as a constraint on economic growth. Specifically, the credit ratio in the private sector also harms economic development, and the financial development index has a significant effect on the economy.
