Abstract

This study explores the lived experience of women entrepreneurs (WEs), addressing the question ‘What is it like to be a self-employed woman in Morocco?’ An international marketing analysis of Morocco and real-life vignettes of WEs complement a SWOT analysis of what the future holds for Moroccan WEs. Recommendations include a national marketing campaign to inform current and potential WEs of available resources, facilitate uptake, build community and transform inefficient national business practices that undermine each woman’s best efforts. Improved articulation of Morocco’s business ecosystem will benefit WEs immeasurably.
