Abstract

This chapter assesses the impact of the stock market on the economic growth of ASEAN-5 countries and Vietnam in the period from 2006 to 2018 by using the linear regression method. The results of the study indicate that the stock market has a significant impact on economic growth in the listed countries. However, in Vietnam, there is no empirical evidence that shows the impact of Vietnam’s stock index on economic growth. The last part of this chapter proposes effective policy implications for developing Vietnam’s stock market and contributing to the economic growth in the future.
