Abstract

Back in the US after some time in China, the 19-year-old skinny, broke, depressed drunk managed to escape the terrible epidemic of addiction which seems to have possessed America. Austin had turned into a sober college grad with a 3.9 GPA who was fluent in Chinese — and $50,000 in debt. The key to getting a job was persistently chasing any kind of loose lead. The alumni office is often a good place to start. For that is exactly how the job was landed. That is how the meeting with Steve from Shanghai happened, for he was an alumnus of Drexel University.
