Abstract

My father was a taxi driver, and my mother was a teacher. There was no way I could have gone to university without a scholarship.In the 1960s, scholarships, bursaries and loans were a lot scarcer than they are today. I applied for several scholarships and was awarded the Colombo Plan Scholarship that was generously donated by the Australian Government and awarded by the Singapore Public Service Commission…
