Abstract

This chapter has two objectives. The first is to introduce the reader to the capabilities of data management in Stata 12. The second is to show the user how to work with databases through several examples. The chapter includes a revision of basic commands in Stata, efficient ways of visualising and presenting results, the use of qualifiers or restrictions in the sample, as well as commands for variable manipulation. The book ends with a discussion of specific commands for the treatment of different types of databases such as crosssection, time series and panel data. Resumen: Este capítulo tiene dos objetivos.
