Successful Management Of A Diverse Class

In Slovenia, Europe and in the world the practice in schools has been changing in a way that inclusion, which was unimaginable few years ago, has become a constant and a necessity. Still, a large number of teachers, who have never received the needed knowledge of inclusion, are teaching at primary schools. They substitute this knowledge deficit by regular upgrading but this is often not enough. An inclusive classroom in primary school is a general education classroom in which students with and without disabilities learn together. As the result of increasing world's migration, the racial diversity has increased. These are challenges of a modern teacher, who has to challenge all the inequalities. The following example of a good practice will show that it is possible to manage the heterogenous classroom. A classroom, where we have pupils with special needs from youth home, pupils with learning disabilities, pupils with mental disorders, chronically ill children, children with behavioral deficits and pupils without special needs, requires a lot of knowledge and patience. It is crucial for the pupils to have the same possibilities or at least they feel as they do. With the help of inclusion it is possible to encourage the children, who are not different, to accept the others and cohabitate without problems. In classrooms like that, teachers will be treated with respect.
