Abstract

Radio is the oldest electronic mass media. For many listeners it’s a daily companion. It is a medium that has developed progressively through time. Most of the merit for this phenomenon is attributed to the younger generation, who has always followed technological advances mainly through popular music. Despite the growing use of new forms of information and telecommunication technologies, young people still use traditional media, such as radio. Digitalisation of the radio allows young people to have a choice of radio stations and to monitor the radio program through various media (telephone, computer ...). One of the key factors is the fact that radio shows attract young people, which give them an opportunity to create their own programs. In our school we have a school enrichment program, which is to create a radio show ‘’From elementary school desks’’, which is played at a local radio station Slovenske gorice. Six years ago, the managing editor invited us to participate and we gladly responded to her invitation because this was a new challenge for the students but it is not directly related to schoolwork. The creation of a radio broadcast “From elementary school desks’’ is carried out within the interest activities of the School Community of Students. In a school year, we create three radio shows, in which we inform the general public about life and work at our school with our contributions. Each show comes from the original and creative ideas of our students, who take part in different roles – like a radio host, a presenter, a reporter and an audio editor. We make our shows more interesting with different musical acts in which young students from our school present their talent with playing on a musical instrument or singing a song.
