Abstract

Serge-Christophe Kolm has made important contributions to many different areas of public economics. Some of his books and articles have been accessible to a large audience because they were translated from French into English, or they were published in English in international scientific journals. This is the case, for example, for most of his articles and monographs on the theory of justice and on inequality measurement. However, this part of Kolm’s scientific output only represents the tip of the iceberg when it comes to research in public economics, his main research area from the mid nineteen sixties to the mid nineteen seventies. Unfortunately, this research is not that well known to the international academic community.
