Abstract

We examine the probability of majority inversion in a two-stage electoral process with three states. We extend May’s model to state-specific general interval preferences and population weights and examine the effects of variation in population weights, and the effects of variance and bias in preferences on the inversion probability. This numerical sensitivity analysis for inversion probability is conducted using an exact formula under general interval preferences in the three states with different population weights.
