Abstract

A fatigue life damage assessment is conducted on diesel engine crankshafts. Finite element analysis is carried out using ABAQUS software to investigate the stress distribution under various operating conditions. Based on the simulation results, Fe-safe software is employed to evaluate the fatigue life, identifying that stress concentrations are predominantly located at the transition fillet between the crankpin and the main journal. Design optimization strategies are proposed to enhance fatigue resistance in these critical regions. This study provides valuable insights into improving diesel engine performance and operational safety through a detailed examination of crankshaft stress behavior and fatigue life characteristics.
