Abstract

This chapter will discuss the analysis of (static/dynamic) loading in new design structures, including mechanisms. To obtain a mechanical advantage through its mechanism, a manufacturer uses a newly featured mechanical product that is adopted by new material and shape. In the process, system will be subjected to various loadings. To withstand t0he stress from the user/environment conditions, the product must robustly be designed to have enough strength and stiffness. This can be achieved by choosing an optimally matter and form for the newly designed mechanical product. To evaluate the robustness of a product design, there are traditional methods—strength of material—that have already been well recognized by many engineers. However, it cannot reproduce the field failure—fatigue. We need an alternative method—parametric ALT—which can be combined with static/dynamics analysis in this chapter.
