Abstract

This chapter presents a case study of combined stochastic process and universal generating function method application to calculation of reliability measures for complex supermarket refrigeration system. The system and its components can have different performance levels ranging from perfect functioning to complete failure and, so it is treated as a multi-state system. Decision making about the system structure is based on calculated reliability measures. Combined universal generating functions and stochastic processes method is used for computation of availability, output performance and performance deficiency for such refrigeration system.
