Abstract

Governance, life cycle, and evolution define the meta-architectural layer through which Purpose Driven Design constructs are maintained, adapted, and aligned over time. While each construct—Purpose, Value, Function, Process, Structure, Order, Culture, Memory, and Storage—serves a distinct role within a unit, their coherence depends on mechanisms that regulate change, preserve alignment, and ensure traceability. Governance establishes accountability and oversight without imposing centralized control, enabling distributed decision-making within defined boundaries. Life cycle management introduces temporal structure, guiding constructs through stages of definition, activation, adaptation, and retirement. Evolution ensures that change is intentional, informed by feedback, and aligned with Purpose rather than driven by drift or fragmentation. This chapter establishes governance as the meta-architecture that sustains construct integrity, enabling systems to remain adaptable, coherent, and resilient in dynamic sociotechnical environments.
