Abstract

The COVID-19 shutdown caused a widespread shift in instructional activities from on-site to remote, resulting in a variety of negative implications. The educational activities were not exempted from these transitions, which then forced the traditional education to switch to e-learning using various accessible educational platforms to minimise the spread of the virus. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of web-based or online quizzes in maximising the learning and performance of the students. A survey among 233 students from a university in Malaysia showed significant findings on the use of web-based or online quizzes in learning Islamic banking and finance course. The findings of the study stated that 59% of the students perceived that web-based or online quizzes helped them improve their interest in online classes, particularly in Islamic banking and finance courses. Future studies may investigate the effectiveness of the web-based or online quiz application in the final examination of the students.
