Abstract
Women’s involvement in the business sphere has positively affected the country’s economic development. The success of women in business and entrepreneurship shows their abilities to empower the country’s economy. The effort and persistence in running the business are a testament to the intense nature and patience required by the business, which entails various strategies to succeed. Many women are involved in business, especially female entrepreneurs in Kelantan who have created multiple achievements. Thus, this article aims to identify women’s driving factors and success in Kelantan’s entrepreneurship field. This article uses a qualitative approach to collecting the necessary data. This method uses an in-depth interview instrument and purposive sampling. Thus, 11 informants were selected from Kelantanese female entrepreneurs to meet the needs of the study. The data was analysed thematically, with the driving factor and success of female entrepreneurs in Kelantan, as well as the formulation of an empowerment model for these female entrepreneurs, as themes. The findings showed that the need to change the family’s economic status, interest in business, helping their spouses for the household economy, and inheriting the business from the family are among the driving factors. The success factors for female entrepreneurs are mainly due to their deep interest, careful planning, business knowledge, and risk-taking readiness. This has brought success to many female entrepreneurs in Kelantan. These entrepreneurs also open up opportunities for women to increase their income.
