Abstract

In recent years, the term “digitalisation” has been used frequently in every way of life and organisation in postmodern society. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, digitalisation has become prominent as more entrepreneurs choose to move from static offline operations to online virtual business activities. Although this term has been recognised nearly a decade ago, the concept of cyberpreneurship is still underreported, especially in Malaysia. Therefore, entrepreneurs’ knowledge of cyberpreneurship is especially in the Malaysian context. This article aims to explore the existing literature review outlining the prior concepts and identify research gaps on the impact of digitalisation on cyberpreneurship in Malaysia. This article summarised the findings from 20 prior studies from relevant authors and reliable sources to elucidate the concept of cyberpreneurship, especially in Malaysia. A few systematic review processes were performed to study the concept and practices of cyberpreneurship for future entrepreneurs. This study found that despite the term cyberpreneurship having been recognised before, however, this term is still not widely applied by entrepreneurs in Malaysia given their lack of understanding. Hence, the result of this study provides a broader understanding of the concept of cyberpreneurship that needs to be explored by entrepreneurs, academicians, and policymakers while concurrently supporting the current policies of Society 5.0, SDGs, SPV2030 and MySTIE, specifically Malaysia 5.0 mission.
