Abstract

The concept of board gender diversity is increasingly gaining attention as a legal strategy to promote a more effective board composition in public companies. As mentioned in earlier chapters, the UK and various countries globally have implemented rules on board gender diversity, although Sri Lankan legislators have largely neglected the topic. This chapter explores the economic and social benefits that rules on board gender diversity could bring to Sri Lankan corporate governance and inevitably to the country.
