Abstract

Zusammenfassung In diesem Kapitel werden sieben renommierte Forscher kurz diskutiert, die am Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) und/oder der Universität Kalkutta ausgebildet wurden und während ihrer Tätigkeit dort herausragende Beiträge in den Bereichen Mathematik, Statistik und Wahrscheinlichkeitsrechnung leisteten. Sie verließen das ISI und wanderten in die USA aus. Dennoch waren sie in der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts ein wichtiger Teil des ISI. Ihre bemerkenswerten Beiträge in ihren jeweiligen Forschungsfeldern trugen zur Ehre des ISI bei. Die Namen dieser sieben großen Persönlichkeiten wurden chronologisch angeordnet.
