Abstract

Chapter 7 discusses one of the most neglected areas for women in work generally—the domestic world outside the working world. What do women scientists need domestically to help them advance at work? What sort of circumstances must be recognized and met, for women’s careers in science to advance? What are the key institutional barriers to women in science having a successful career? Do these women scientists have any ideas as to how institutions should go about removing domestic barriers to female success? What sort of programs or awards should be put in place to create greater equity and help women financially meet any domestic disadvantage?
