Abstract

This chapter provides a comprehensive exploration of collective bargaining, beginning with a detailed examination of its definition and meaning within the context of labour relations. It further delves into the process of collective bargaining, elucidating the stages and mechanisms involved in negotiating collective agreements between management and trade unions. Additionally, the chapter categorises the various types of collective bargaining approaches employed in different organisational settings. Moreover, it analyses negotiation strategies and tactics utilised by both management and trade unions to achieve their respective objectives during bargaining sessions. Furthermore, the resource offers interactive learning tools such as fill-in-the-blanks exercises, multiple-choice questions, long-form caselet questions, case studies, and classroom activities to reinforce understanding and application of collective bargaining principles.
