Abstract

This chapter discusses how law has shaped the nature of CSR and lent different facets and dimensions to it. Since CSR is aligned with companies’ operations and functioning, this chapter also examines the role and interface of corporate law with CSR. This discussion then leads to exploring different countries across the world, or regionally, approach CSR in a legal way. Comparisons may be drawn between ‘developed’ and ‘developing’ countries; to answer questions such as why are the approaches different, contributing factors to this difference and current positions.
