Abstract

In recent years, the fusion of technology and evolving consumer preferences has spurred the rise of Digital Finance and Digital Banking, revolutionizing how financial services are perceived, accessed, and provided. This shift is explored in depth in this chapter, highlighting its multifaceted developments and significant implications for the financial sector. Digital banking, primarily conducted via mobile apps or bank websites, may seem superficially minor, but it signifies a profound transformation in banking practices. Customers now enjoy unrestricted access to services, liberated from traditional constraints such as operating hours and physical queues. However, regulating these digital banks presents new challenges, and the impact on profits remains largely unexamined. There is a growing push for branch closures and ATM dismantling, indicating substantial industry changes. The true extent of technology's effectiveness in meeting customer needs will become clearer through audit reports over time. Ultimately, the full implications of these changes will only be revealed with time.
