Abstract

This chapter underscores the pivotal role of Central Banks in upholding trust within society, often overlooked by analysts. While their primary task is price stabilization, they must also cultivate trust, especially when implementing policies with significant social and economic ramifications. Achieving societal buy-in for policies, such as inflation control, requires robust logical justifications and consideration for equitable outcomes. Central Banks must engage in transparent communication and demonstrate the greater societal benefits of short-term sacrifices. Moreover, the chapter emphasizes the necessity for agile and rigorous regulation, particularly in the aftermath of financial crises, as exemplified by the Silicon Valley Bank collapse. Failures in regulatory intervention highlight the importance of proactive and vigilant oversight to maintain financial stability.
