Abstract

The sixth way people practice politicking is ratiocination. This denotes the rational use of reason, which is what underpins not only the scientific but also the technological and industrial revolutions, and is now the dominant culture worldwide. Most people want the goods and services it can provide, and so they accept the way of life it represents, albeit in their own fashion. No one escapes its influence, despite their best attempts to do so. A never-ending stream of inventions ensures that this is so, innovations that also continue to change how people use force, persuade, reconcile, exploit, and indoctrinate.
