Abstract

This chapter discusses a lot about how well digital cash transfers work in Social Safety Network (SSN) programs in Bangladesh. The chapter achieves this by combining research findings with data on how individuals use technology, interact with the government, and receive payments. The chapter argues that digital cash transfers have greatly improved access to financial services, governance, and service delivery. The Capability Approach by Sen, the Beneficial Governance Framework by the World Bank, the Technology Acceptance Model by Davis, and the Diffusion of Innovations Theory by Rogers, all help it achieve this. But it could be difficult to fully enjoy these benefits because of challenges like slow internet, not knowing how to use technology well, and social and cultural hurdles. The study reveals the interconnections among these three groups. They discuss how issues with infrastructure, social and cultural norms, and people who do not know how to use technology well might make digital cash transfers less effective. This chapter demonstrates to academicians, lawmakers, and professionals how they can enhance the sustainability, effectiveness, and accessibility of digital cash transfer systems by integrating these findings with a theoretical framework. This chapter is one way that automation might help individuals who are most at risk.
