Abstract

Zusammenfassung Um 1750, zu Beginn der Industriellen Revolution, war das Wirtschaftswachstum in den Nationen vernachlässigbar, und es herrschte eine Homogenität im Wohlstandsniveau (Spence, 2012). Mit der Einführung der Dampfmaschine und der anschließenden Mechanisierung begannen Produktivität und Pro-Kopf-Einkommen in Europa zu steigen, und die Welt erlebte eine „große DivergenzGreat divergence“ in der Produktivität. Die Revolution breitete sich mit der Entwicklung austauschbarer, maschinell gefertigter Teile und anschließend der Massenproduktion in die Vereinigten Staaten aus. Das Entstehen vertikal integrierter Giganten wie Ford Motors und General Motors war das Ergebnis dieser Innovationen in der Produktion. Das Produktionsparadigma wurde mit der Einführung von „Lean Production SystemenLean production systems“ in Japan weiter verändert – die Toyota Motor Corporation übernahm die Führungsrolle bei der Entwicklung des Lean Thinking. ProduktionsmanagementOperations management steht im Zentrum dieser Produktionsprozesse. Dieses Kapitel behandelt die zentralen Konzepte des Produktionsmanagements und die dazugehörigen Modelle.
