Abstract

The digital economy is fundamentally changing international trade, with the ASEAN Single Window (ASW) playing a pivotal role in this transformation across Southeast Asia. Despite substantial advancements, significant challenges persist in achieving full interoperability, standardized cybersecurity protocols, and harmonized data governance frameworks across ASEAN Member States. The ASW is designed to streamline and enhance cross-border trade by integrating and harmonizing the national single windows of ASEAN Member States. This chapter delves into the key theoretical and technical concepts that support ASW, emphasizing IT interoperability, cybersecurity, and standardized data formats. By reviewing essential literature, this chapter bridges academic research with practical application, offering a thorough understanding of these critical components.
