China's Integrated Urban–Rural Development and Rural Revitalization

The first section of this chapter summarizes the evolution of urban–rural relations in China, describing the change from the urban–rural dualism, the urban–rural coordination, and the urban–rural integration. So far, the country has achieved remarkable progress in this regard, upgrading its urban–rural coordinated development policy into an integrated development policy. Despite that, it is necessary to recognize that the urban–rural dualism is still a widely-existing problem and that China still has a long way to go in realizing the integrated development of its urban and rural areas. China's rural revitalization policy is essentially an effort to reshape its current urban–rural relations: In this process, the integrated development is a development goal as well as a development method. The second section of this chapter analyzes the content of China's rural revitalization strategy and the path to actualize the integrated urban–rural development for the goal of rural revitalization. Under the leadership of the CPC, China has already completed its poverty-alleviation targets, which has laid solid foundations for its rural revitalization endeavor.
