Abstract

1. Roots of Resilience Samuel Doria Medina’s secure childhood attachments, especially with his parents and sisters, gave him emotional stability, independence, and a sense of duty. Despite facing challenges like kidnapping and cancer, SDM consistently manages his emotions, prioritising others’ well-being over his own. 2. Secure Attachment Breeds Efficacy SDM’s leadership reflects traits tied to early secure bonding: self-discipline, low personal distress, high concern for others, and unwavering belief in purposeful suffering. 3. Conviction SDM, known for his resilience and low fear of failure, combines optimism with meticulous planning, often disregarding expert advice if it contradicts his internal logic. 4. Leadership vis-à-vis Adversity Life-threatening events like abduction and a plane crash made SDM more committed to his duties and resolute in his strategy.
