Abstract

This chapter is based on the article “Simple Economics of the Blockchain” by Christian Catalini and Joshua Gans, published in Communications of the ACM in 2020 ( https://doi.org/10.1145/3359552 ). Joshua, Professor of Strategic Management and holder of the Jeffrey S. Skoll Chair of Technical Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, kindly agreed to summarize their joint research and serves as the corresponding author for this chapter.
