Abstract

When Bitcoin was introduced in 2009, it quickly became clear that one of its most groundbreaking innovations was the blockchain. At its core, the blockchain is simply a database—but with a crucial twist: it stores information in a way that makes it virtually impossible to delete or alter prior entries without everyone on the network knowing.
