Abstract

Ethics is not meant only for individuals acting in isolation. On many aspects of crucial importance such as fighting social evils like dowry, corruption and environmental deterioration, we may have to act in concert. It needs coming out of our individual shells, co-ordinating with like-minded people, spreading awareness, and initiating group action. There are also important global issues requiring co-operation and co-ordination between countries. With increasing globalization, there is also an increasing global responsibility in tackling massive poverty, iliiteracy and ill-health, in averting environmental crisis, in implementing human rights, and in achieving durable peace. Countries not sensitive and responsible enough in this regard have not only to be brought around but also assisted and supported by the global community.
