Abstract

In the recent decades, tourism movement has been scrutinized significantly as the route of overcoming global environmental and sustainability problems. As the consequences of, the prerequisite knowledge about environmental sustainability is a concern among all industrial activities either in product manufacturing and, or management services in tourism development. For the human existences on earth and dealing with those un-avoidable circumstances, this chapter can guide researchers how to identify or analyze environmental complications in tourism development process, which also could be managed towards achieving tourism sustainability in the developing countries like Bangladesh. Necessary environmental reporting and managing of tourism industry could be framed profoundly with the guidance of a robust tool, particularly with a sustainable development tool “FSSD (Framework for Strategic Sustainable Development)”. Research shows that the use of a product related tool entitled “FSSD” serves an organization from the overall sustainability point of view, which stimulates the existing development process of an organization to satisfy the business needs, with a particular interest of tourism sector. However, the overall integration process of product development in tourism sustainability is based on back casting from sustainability principles that can bring onward a platform for practicing environmental policies either in the manufacturing related tourism product, or its service management issues. The generic approach of product development tool in tourism sector reveals a holistic approach of movement towards sustainable development.
