Abstract

In this chapter, some important issues on monetary policy and economic growth in China have been discussed. Professor Yiping Huang from Peking University proposed an at-all-cost polices to save the economy. Mr. Songcheng Sheng, Former Director of the Financial Survey and Statistics Department of People’s bank of China, shared its view of the prediction on economic growth in the second quarter. Mr. Haizhou Huang, Managing Director of China International Capital Corporation, focused on the external environment of monetary policy. Mr. Jianhua Zhang, Director of Research Center for Financial Development and Regtech, THUIFR, shed some light on the transmission mechanism of monetary policy and issues related to structural monetary policy. Mr. Bin Zhang, Senior Fellow, Deputy Director at Institute of World Economics and Politics at Chinese Academy of Social Sciences use the analogy of fire prevention to discuss the relationship between fiscal policy and monetary policy. In the end, the economists also had a heated debate on how the monetary policy can stabilize exchange rate, credit growth, and consumer consumption.
