Environmental Monitoring and Assessment of Africa Regional Air Temperature Trend

Abstract

Africa surface air temperature has been on increase thereby causing intense heat wave and resulting in a change in the climate. A good method of validating this change is to monitor drivers of severe surface air temperature increases using the cardinal point. In this chapter for the first time, an investigation of the surface air temperature anomalies over selected countries in the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western part of Africa using seasonal trend analysis. The data retrieved from NASA-AIRS for the period from 2010 to 2019 was used to monitor and validate the trend in atmospheric surface air kinetic energy in the given region and to quantify the environmental issues an energy cycle amount poses. The seasonal trend analysis has helped to identify regions of high surface air temperature dominance, resulting from months with higher values from the annual anomaly mean period. The results of the study indicated that the seasonal pattern of regional warming deeply depends on geographic latitude. However, regions should design local solutions to meet moderate air temperature and ensure climate mitigation.
