Abstract

The expressions used when professionals discuss finance and business in both formal and informal settings are diverse and often baffling if English is not your first language. But even for native speakers, spoken exchanges between business people might be difficult to understand if you do not work in these industries. Again, a mix of slang, metaphor and idiom is prevalent in exchanges taking place in boardrooms, offices, lobbies and coffee houses. This section covers terms most commonly employed when people working in the business, finance and banking professions meet and converse.
